Destinations: Cusco, Maras, Moray and Machu Picchu
Upon your arrival to Cusco airport we will pick you up and then you will be transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is free so you can rest and acclimate to the altitude. Cusco is situated at 3,400 mts. / 11,152 ft. above sea level.
We will pick you up at 8:00 a.m. for a great private guided tour to some of the remarkable sites close by the Sacred Valley. We start driving to Chinchero, where we will visit one of the famous weaving centers. Next place to go is the Inca agricultural experimental center of Moray. Moray is famous for its sunken amphitheater shape, made up of four circular terraces using the natural formation of the Mountain.
The site was apparently an Inca agricultural research station designed for experimenting with crops at various altitudes (many run down to depths of 100 meters). It is believed that the terraces were built over containing walls filled with fertile earth and watered by complex irrigation systems.
Afterwards we will hike the mule trails that lead to the ancient town of Maras. This is a beautiful quaint little town with homes that boast out-standing Spanish doors and arches.
After visiting Maras, we will travel down into The Sacred Valley of the Incas to see the phenomenal salt pans called Salineras. There are more than 3000 terraces are still in production.
As we continue on our journey, we will travel in our van until Ollantaytambo. We will also get to see this stunning town before to arrive to the station. From here we will take the Train to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival we will be escorted to our hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel. Our guide will come to lead you to the bus station. We then have a bus drive for 25 minutes, the citadel of Machu Picchu. When you arrive, you will have an opportunity to participate in a guided tour. The guide will show you the Main Plaza, Sun Temple, Sacred Sun Dial (Intihuatana), Royal Palace, Temple of the Three Windows, Main Temple and sacred Rock. After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore the zone on your own.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. You will be picked up from the hotel at the scheduled time and transferred to the airport in Cusco for your departure flight to Lima.
