Exploring Cusco tour – Overview

  • First day.- Arrival in Cusco – Walking city Tour
  • Second day.- Sacred Valley of the Incas – Pisac Ruins and Urubamba.
  • Third day.- Maras -Moray -Salt Mine -Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes.
  • Fourth day.- Machu Picchu – Cusco
  • Fifth day.- Cusco – Departure.


Day 1.-Arrival in Cusco – Walking city Tour (Inca museum, San Pedro market and the main square)

Upon arrival, reception by our representatives at the airport of Cusco and transfer to the hotel. You will have some free time to rest and get acclimatized to the altitude.

Plaza de armas Cusco. At the scheduled time we will start our Exploring Cusco tour walking  in the down town of the City. You will be able to observe part of the Inca and Spanish buildings. We walk around the main square to see some of the catholic churches and some beautiful Inca streets.  we will also explore San Pedro, the local market and the Inca museum (optional to enter in Qoricancha and Cathedral).

Day 2. – Sacred Valley of the Incas – Pisac Ruins and Urubamba.

Ruta valle sagrado We start driving towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas, using the main route to Pisac.  On the way  we stop at Awana Cancha, where the guide will explain us the traditional weaving process of the textiles and also to see the South American camels (llamas, alpacas and vicuñas). You can purchase the hand-made textiles.

Our next stop will be at the look out of Taray to have a classic view of the Urubamba valley. We then continue to the spectacular ruins of Pisac. Here we will explore the most important parts of this big Inca Archaeological complex.

Later after lunch we will visit the colonial town of Pisac, which has a nice traditional market on Sundays. On the way down to Urubamba we will pass Lamay town (famous for roasted guinea pigs).

Day 3.- Maras – Moray – Salt Mine – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu)

Maras Moray In the morning after breakfast, we will drive through Maras a picturesque colonial town, arriving to Moray (the Inca experimental center). We will have time to explore this fascinating place, and then we continue to the fascinating salt mine own by locals. At the salt mine the guide will show us all the process to harvest the natural salt. Then we have 30 minutes drive to Urubamba for lunch.

In the afternoon we will drive to Ollantaytambo. This is a very attractive town of Inca origin with remarkable channels and stone streets. In its high part one rises to an impressive ceremonial center of cult to the water and a fortress that guarded the access to the inferior part of the valley.

At the schedule time, we will take the train down to Aguas Calientes town.

Day 4. – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Exploring Cusco In the morning after breakfast we will board the bus which will take us to the gate of the citadel “Machu Picchu” where a professional tour guide will transmit us all the history of this mysterious and outstanding place. You will visit sun temple, royal palace, main temple, three windows temple, sun dial and more. After the guided tour, free time to explore more places on your own.

At the scheduled time we will go down to Aguas Calientes and then return to Cusco.

Day 5. – Cusco – Departure.

At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport to take the flight to your next destination.
