For the Incas Cusco was the heart of their empire, a sacred place for a pilgrimage, where massive religious centers were located as Qoricancha and Sacsayhuaman. The main Inca Capital called “Qosqo” was the center of this great civilization in South America.
Today Cusco is a fascinating city showing Inca and Spanish cultures. It is a mix of colonial buildings as the churches, monasteries, convents and the magnificent Inca architecture found at every corner, which makes Cusco a Unique and magical city. Day 1: Arrival in Cusco – Walking city Tour (Inca streets and the main square)
In the afternoon, you can take part in a walking tour of downtown Cusco. You will be able to observe the mixture of Andean and Spanish cultures. We will walk around the main square to see the Catholic churches, some of the beautiful Inca streets, and Qoricancha the sun temple. You will be able to experience the biggest local market called San Pedro and the Inca Museum. Visiting these places help you to understand the meaning of this wonderful Inca civilization in South America.
Day 2: Walking tour to the four ruins around Cusco.
In the morning we will pick you up from the hotel in a private car. We will drive twenty minutes to Tambomachay (the water ritual place), after visiting this wonderful site, we will continue on to Puca-Pucara, Qenqo, Sacsayhuaman the biggest Inca temple outside of Cusco. As we arrive into the city, we will visit the Cathedral. This is the most important Catholic Church in South America.
Day 3: Sacred Valley of the Incas -Pisac Market – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes.
We will drive toward the Sacred Valley of the Incas, taking the direct route to Pisac. On the way, we will visit the weaving center of Awana Cancha where we will have free time to interact with the local craftsmen and to purchase their hand-made textiles. We will stop at the Mirador of Taray to take in the view of the Urubamba valley.
The valley has crops that dress the mountains like carpets. We will arrive in the town of Pisac to visit a fantastic local Market (optional to visit the Inca ruin of Pisac). Afterward, we will continue to the town of Urubamba to enjoy a buffet lunch.
After lunch we will visit Ollantaytambo, an attractive town of Incan origin with remarkable water channels and stone streets. There is an impressive ceremonial center that pays homage to the water and a fortress that guarded the access to the interior part of the valley. In the evening we will take the train to Aguas Calientes.
Day 4: Machu Picchu – Cusco.
After breakfast we will board the bus which will take us to the biggest energetic center of the Incas, “Machu Picchu”. A professional tour guide will teach us about all the history of this mysterious and mystical place. We will visit the Sun Temple, Royal palace, Main Temple, Three Windows Temple and Sun Dial. It will be an unforgettable experience. After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore on your own. Afterward, we begin the journey back to Cusco.
Day 5: Cusco – flight back to Lima.
In the morning, we will pick you up from the hotel and transport you to the airport in Cusco.
