For the Incas Cusco was the big Capital city called “Qosqo” many religious temples, Royal Palaces and astronomical places were built in the heart of this great Puma city as the evidence of this big civilization in South America.
In the present day Cusco shows an interesting mix of Inca and Spanish buildings, it is possible to see magnificent colonial churches, monasteries, convents and remains of the ancient Puma city of the Incas; many streets are lined up with perfect Inca stonework which served as foundation for most Spanish construction that took place in the XVI and XVII centuries. In Machu Picchu vacation tour we will be able to visit all those extraordinary places.
In the afternoon you are invited on a walking tour that takes you into the liveliness of downtown Cusco. Here you will find everyone a buzz and you can observe the mixture of Andean and Spanish culture. We will walk around the Main Square to see the Catholic Churches and some of the beautiful Inca streets, Qoricancha, Sun Temple, the local market, San Pedro and the Inca Museum, which helps you to understand civilization in South America.
In the morning we will pick you up from the hotel in a private car. We will drive twenty minutes toward Tambomachay (the water ritual place), afte visiting this wonderful site, we will continue to Puca Pucara, Q’enqo, Sacsayhuaman, the biggest Incan site around Cusco. After arriving back to the city, we will visit the cathedral, the most important Catholic Church in South America.
We will drive towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas, taking the direct route to Pisac. On the way we will visit the weaving center of Awana Cancha, where we will have some time to interact with the local artisans and purchase their hand-made textiles. We will continue on for ten minutes until we reach the Mirador of Taray, where we will have a beautiful view of the Urubamba valley. The valley boasts an array of crops that dress the mountains like carpets. We will arrive to the town of Pisac to visit the local Market (optional to visit the Inca ruin of Pisaq). We will continue to the town of Urubamba for a buffet lunch.
After lunch, we will visit Ollantaytambo, an attractive town of Inca origin with remarkable channels and stone streets. There is an impressive ceremonial center in honor of the water and a fortress that guarded the access to this part of the valley. As we continue on, we will take the train to Aguas Calientes.
In the morning after breakfast, we will board the bus which will take us to the biggest energetic center of the Incas “Machu Picchu”. A professional tour guide will teach us all about the history of this mysterious and mystical place( Sun Temple, Royal Palace, Main Temple, Three Windows Temple and Sun Dial). It will be an unforgettable experience. After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore on your own. We will travel down to Aguas Calientes and then return to Cusco.
In the morning, at the scheduled time, we will pick you up from the hotel and the transport you to the airport in Cusco to take your flight to Lima. End of Machu Picchu vacation.
