Breakfast at the hotel, at the scheduled time, transfer to the airport to take your domestic flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is free so you can rest and acclimate to the altitude. Cusco is situated at 3,400 mts. / 11,152 ft. above sea level.
You will be picked up from your hotel at 8:00 a.m. for a private guided tour of The Sacred Valley. We will embark on an excursion to the Inca agricultural experimental center of Moray. Moray is famous for its sunken amphitheater shape, made up of four circular terraces which appear to disappear into the earth like an artificial crater.
The site was apparently an Inca agricultural research station designed for experimenting with crops at various altitudes (many run down to depths of 100 meters). It is believed that the terraces were built over containing walls filled with fertile earth and watered by complex irrigation systems.
While visiting Moray, we will be able to walk around to explore the amazing concentric circle terraces, considered as the belly of Pachamama. Afterwards we will hike the mule trails that lead to the ancient town of Maras. This is a beautiful quaint little town with homes that boast out-standing Spanish doors and arches.
After visiting Maras, we will travel down into The Sacred Valley of the Incas to see the phenomenal salt pans of Salinas. There are more than 3000 terraces are still in production.
As we continue on our journey, we will travel in our van alongside the Urubamba River. On the way, we will make a stop in Ollantaytambo and take the Vistadome Train to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival we will be escorted to our hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel. Our guide will come to lead you to the bust station, we then board the bus that will take us to the citadel of Machu Picchu. When you arrive, you will have an opportunity to participate in a guided tour. You will be able to visit the Main Plaza, Sun Temple, Sacred Sun Dial (Intihuatana), Royal Palace, Temple of the Three Windows, Main Temple, sacred Rock warehouses and large Central Square. After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore the zone on your own.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. You will be picked up from the hotel at the scheduled time and transferred to the airport in Cusco for your departure flight to Lima.
